A Glasgow Getaway

Marty O’Neill travels to Glasgow for a weekend of music, memories, and a tour around Scotland’s biggest city.

A random social media advert from six months ago about a concert took us to Glasgow recently. A city I’ve shamefully never spent time in, until now. And I realise at long last what the buzz is about! A bustling, vibrant city that reminds me a lot of my home city of Belfast. In look, feel and vibe. Scotland’s largest city is industrial still in places, edgy and real in others. A former industrial powerhouse, the architectural beauty is plain to see, too, although Glasgow has significantly more red and yellow sandstone buildings than Belfast. Edwardian, Victorian and Art Nouveau, striking and historic to see. Although let’s not mention why Belfast lost a lot of hers…
