Retreat To Nature

We certainly know how important our outdoor spaces and their benefits for our mood and health, so taking time out at the Pond Suites at Marlfield House in Wexford is a must!

This unique accommodation was designed by Laura Bowe of Marlfield House, who tells us, ‘The inspiration came from our gardens and the wildlife living there. We wanted to give our guests the opportunity to sleep close to nature, in a woodland and lake setting in the comfort of a super-king size bed and luxurious surroundings!’

‘There is nothing quite like them anywhere. Each is named after the animals that inspired them, The Fox, The Peacock, The Heron and The Hare,’ adds Laura.

Noonan Moran Architects Dublin, brought the design to life with the help of a team of local builders and craftspeople. Built to the highest specification and top rating BER certification, they are extremely well insulated and heated by air to water heat pumps. Sustainability and green energy was at the forefront of this design project.

The bedrooms are of large proportions, feature wall paneling, painted in Zoffany and Farrow & Ball paints, hides walk-in wardrobes and drinks cabinets. Super-king beds dominate the space, with plush padded headboards and Irish wool bed throws. The large, plump sofas are festooned with ikat silk cushions and a handwoven, colourful wool rug underfoot. Dimmable designer light fittings and wall murals of birds adorn the walls. The feeling is of a modern, luxe interior with pops of colour and different textures throughout.
