Stars of Summer

This month Conrad McCormick looks ahead to the bulbs you should be planting to add colour in to your summer garden.

Mention flower bulbs and most people’s minds drift to spring favourites like daffodils and tulips, but there are a host of unusual summer flowering bulbs that can add glamorous colour, exotic scent and drama to the garden from June right through to September any beyond. Some of these summer bloomers are tender, requiring protection from the winter cold and wet, while others will happily return year after year with little further input required from the gardener.
