It is assumed that the very first edition of the Christmas Market was held in Strasbourg in 1570 and the tradition is still going strong with over three hundred stalls spread out over twelve locations! The market in Altstadt in Old Town is especially magical to visit and there is no shortage of things to browse and barter. There are lots of local craftworks and paintings on offer too. The Village of Sharing is also set up just next to the Great Christmas tree which is operated by charities and organisations to offer visitors a chance to show their generosity for those who are in need.
