Belfast

Belfast is a magical city to spend time in at Christmas, with lots of winter festivities for the whole family to enjoy.

Things to see and do

Belfast is an ever expanding city which has really boomed in recent years, with the growth of the Cathedral and Titanic Quarter. It is extra special at Christmas time with a wonderful atmosphere. What would Christmas in the city be without visiting a continental market? Belfast is no exception and offers a fantastic Christmas market within the grounds of the iconic City Hall, where you can indulge on wears from around Europe, enjoy cuisine such as Bratwurste hotdogs from Germany, a kangaroo or boar burger, miniature Dutch pancakes with sweet toppings, or a mulled cider and flavoured beer from one of the bars. It makes for a fantastic festive day or night out, and there is even a Santa’s Grotto where you can take the kids. Don’t miss the big Christmas tree light switch on at City Hall too, where special guests are invited to push the button and set the city alight for Christmas. This will take place on November 16th at 7.30pm this year.
Belfast is the perfect city to get all your Christmas shopping done, with everything being within compact range. However, don’t judge the cities size on what it has, because between the high street, Victoria Square Shopping Centre and Castle Court, you will have gifts for everyone in no time. Victoria Square offers many of your favourite high street shops, with designer shops on the lower floor too. There is also a craft fayre on at weekends during the festive period and it is really worth a look for something beautiful and unique from a local artisan.
