Make It Merry

Laura and Peter’s newly built home twinkles with its festive décor.

A striking wreath, from Holly and Willow, hung on the door, gives a festive welcome, as you enter the hall to be greeted by a beautifully lit garland – these both set the scene for the start of the magic of Christmas in Laura Dillon’s and her husband Peter’s new built home in Co. Westmeath. ‘I always hang a wreath on the door whatever the season, it gives a lovely welcoming vibe particularly at Christmas. The couple, both teachers, had been living with Laura’s parents in order to save so they could build. ‘We had looked at a few houses and decided a new build was the best idea, so when this site, near my parents, came up for sale we jumped at the chance of purchasing it, which we bought subject to planning. It was officially ours in September 2019,’ says Laura. Keen to be able to celebrate their first Christmas in their new home, the couple started work in October 2019, with the building works taking two years to complete.
