Built Differently

This Tipperary showhome marks a shift in how new builds are done. A close collaboration between contractor and designer replaces standard templates with interiors that are considered and individual, offering a clear alternative to the usual one-note approach.

A five-bedroom new build by SMJ Construction is quietly challenging the idea that new homes have to feel uniform. This is not a one-size-fits-all development. Instead, it is a collaboration between builder and designer Lynnette O’Brien of Foxburrow Interiors that places detail, flexibility and individuality at the centre of the process. Lynette was brought in to help shape that vision. ‘Their idea is to give people the opportunity to do something different, not the bog standard kitchen, for example’ she explains. ‘Previously, I would’ve come in to new builds like the house doctor to fix things, lights are off, there are issues. Here, they wanted to show what was possible.’
