Megan and Ronan wanted to replace the kitchen in their Greystones home with an open-plan design better suited to busy family life.

The previous kitchen in this detached home was a classic U-shape with cabinets along three walls and after seven years in their house the owners were ready for a change. ‘I’m American and used to that open-plan style of design,’ explains Megan. ‘We wanted a kitchen that we could really live in. The previous design had a large amount of wasted space in the middle – but not large enough to put in an island or peninsula. I disliked that you were also quite isolated when cooking or clearing up. We wanted something that brought everything together in a much more dynamic and social way.’
