Sleek & Unique

Robinson Interiors have designed this stunning and unique kitchen which radiates charm as well as functionality, delivering exactly what their client wanted. The resulting design brings an outstanding mixture of classic and contemporary to the final layout.

This client was an extremely accomplished cook and baker so the brief was primarily to design a no-nonsense functional kitchen,’ explains designer Mark Robinson.

‘She explained that her guests often enjoy watching her cook, hence the very large oval breakfast bar that was integrated to the large L shaped island.’

As this project was a joint venture with Adrian Baillie, the award winning interior designer, both Adrian and Mark worked together on the brief to deliver exactly what the client wanted. This all began when Adrian showed Mark the flooring and lighting he wanted to use, which then led Mark to suggest the kitchen finishes that would co-ordinate with these. As they have both collaborated successfully on many projects before this one, it was a great partnership that delivered excellent results.

Structural changes came in the form of the wall between the family room and the kitchen being removed to create a large triple purpose cooking, dining and living space.

Mark explains the unique elements and design features of this kitchen. ‘The handmade river washed oak breakfast bar would definitely be one element as well as the unique shape of the island. The special size cabinetry with a combination of solid wood and birch marine plywood interiors would be another.’
