An Elegant Touch

When Tracey, Hugo and their four children moved back home from Boston, they needed a functional, practical and stylish design for their new build in Donegal. After admiring Poplar Design’s showroom, the couple decided that they were perfect to design a classic, timeless hand-painted kitchen that offers warmth and is designed perfectly to suit family living.

Our old kitchen in Boston was pretty functional but was getting older and outdated,’ recalls Tracey. ‘It was maple with granite worktops and had stainless steel appliances. When this first kitchen was being built in Boston I was pregnant with my first child and I didn’t know what my needs were but now this time around with four kids I knew exactly what I needed! I definitely wanted a large island, lots of storage and a functional and practical space that was easy to get around and also a place where we could all eat. A built-in coffee machine was also on my wish list as I love coffee and I thought this would be a nice addition.’

So how did the couple decide on the kitchen company? ‘I had seen Poplar Design’s showroom on trips home when I visited Derry and I thought it looked great and was very appealing. Caroline was our designer and was brilliant. She had a blank canvas to work off and had a lot of input on the final design.’
