October 2020 – Issue 302

Welcome

Can you believe the summer is over? Unfortunately, as I sit at my kitchen island writing this I can! It’s blowing a gale outside, the rain is beating down and the garden furniture is turned upside down. Now I just want to embrace the cold autumnal weather, get the stove lit and relax on a sofa littered with fluffy cushions and cosy throws!

With this in mind, this issue we’re embracing the new season and all of the trends that are popping up for our bathrooms, kitchens and living spaces. From statement tiles, architectural arches and golden finishes there’s plenty to inspire you if you’re planning a few changes within your own home. We’ve even got a few people that can help! From upholsterer Nicola Parkes to the potters at Arran Street East, all can offer something truly bespoke for your home interiors.

Continuing with the theme of breathing a new lease of life into our living spaces, you’ll enjoy reading more about Tadhg’s Dublin home renovation, which features on our cover this month, and also in Broughshane Frank and Georgina’s quest to bring a period property back to its original splendour, while at the same time making it work for the whole family. And, as we know, making your home work for everyone living in it is so important, so interior designer Hélène Broderick explains how she has done just that with her Kilkenny home over the years.

We’ve also got a few quick and tasty recipes from none other than Gordon Ramsay and if you feel you need to get away from it all, maybe a luxurious retreat to Breac House in Donegal is exactly what you’re after, or if you’ve only got a few hours to spare, an indulgent afternoon tea in the recently renovated Merchant Hotel in Belfast is the perfect way to avoid the wind and rain outside!
