November 2019 – Issue 293

It’s our birthday! In this November issue we celebrate 25 years of Ireland’s Homes Interiors & Living. We are very proud that since 1994 we have been privileged to showcase stunning homes and interior design throughout Ireland, and we thank you, our loyal readers, for your support over the years. To mark this special occasion we have a great issue for you to enjoy which includes an eight page feature on everything silver for the interior of your home. This elegant introduction to any room brings opulence and shimmer and can be coupled with almost any colour.

Although there’s nothing better than wrapping up well and taking a walk on a crisp winter’s day, its lovely to return to a warm and welcoming home. With winter approaching we are likely to spend more time indoors away from the elements. Rather than heading out to eat on a cold evening, we tend to enjoy dining in and this issue, whether you wish to sit around the kitchen island or at a more formal table setting, we have numerous dining options and ideas to inspire you. Also with the run up to the festive season approaching, a dining table to seat all your guests might be top of your agenda this year. The dark nights also make us think of the ways to artificially light our homes and how to do this atmospherically. Our lighting feature this issue offers lots of inspiration for wall and pendant lighting as well as floor lamps and table lamps; essential for creating that cosy ambience within your home this winter.

Our homes in this issue include a Georgian property in the centre of Limerick where the new homeowners turned to Geri Designs at Browsers Interiors for guidance and inspiration. Then in County Monaghan, determined not to give up on his dream of a farmhouse and an Aga, Duncan can’t believe his luck when he finds a two story farmhouse with original stable block and carriage house. Last but certainly not least, we showcase a supreme example of modern architecture with this new build development in County Down with spectacular, panoramic sea views. Our reader’s kitchen in this issue is a stylish and functional, bespoke contemporary kitchen designed by Interior360.

As for cookery this month, we feature a selection of recipes from Leaf – lettuce, greens, herbs, weeds by Catherine Phipps. Our destination abroad is a visit to Dubai, a city known for its ultramodern architecture, shopping, profound traditions and lively nightlife. Back on the island of Ireland we visit Newry, known as the gateway to the north, a shopping haven, while also being full of history and heart. Our resident gardener, Deirdre Prince talks about the benefits of planting more trees and gives us a selection of her favourites.
