All the Right Moves

With a passion for renovating, Gillian and Peter have restored numerous houses over the years. Always on the look out for a new project to take on, this listed building in Kilkenny proved to be their most demanding venture yet.

Located between Borris and Graiguenamanagh overlooking the river Barrow, this impressive period property, a listed Georgian house dating back to the late eighteenth century, is home to Gillian and Peter. The couple bought the house in 2002 when it was a complete ruin, but having restored properties before, they could see its potential and were excited at the prospect of rescuing it and bringing it back to life. ‘Peter is a terrible mover, in sixty years of marriage we have moved over twenty times. He loves nothing better than somewhere that needs doing up, but this house was our biggest challenge to date,’ says Gillian.
