A Return with Intent

In Hillsborough, a detached two-storey home follows a sense of continuity. Originally designed by Beaufort Interiors in the 1980s, the property has now been reworked for a new chapter, with Managing Director Trevor Wilson leading the transformation.

This project was actually a returning client,’ Trevor begins. Four decades ago, his mother Ruth led a design project under this very roof as lead designer, making the return phase a nostalgic one. The house itself is generous and well-proportioned. The ground floor comprises a kitchen, living and dining space alongside a formal lounge, formal dining room, a spacious central entrance hall and cloakroom. Upstairs, bedrooms are arranged alongside a master bathroom and dressing room. ‘It is a family home, and I was appointed as the designer directly by the homeowners,’ says Trevor, describing a brief that required both sensitivity and confidence. ‘It was a really interesting brief – taking the ornate and traditionally-styled existing interior, and transform it into something much more contemporary to echo the clients’ development of style and taste, changes in use with additions to the family, and make as much use of existing furniture and art as possible.’
