Mention a greenhouse and most of us probably picture much the same thing. Seed trays, stacks of plastic pots, a bag of compost spilling somewhere and, by midsummer, tomato plants taking over every available inch. A place for raising seedlings, taking cuttings and squeezing an extra few weeks from the growing season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of that. We still want tomatoes, salad leaves and chillies, and there will always be plants being propagated or something tucked away for winter. Increasingly though, gardeners are looking at the greenhouse slightly differently.
