American Dream

This month we showcase a fabulous home in Florida restored with flair by County Down couple, Amy and James. Just as they brought some local influences to Florida, so we hope you will be inspired by this American dream.

Amy and James are the third owners of this six bedroom American classic home in Florida, built in 1998 and draws its architectural influence from pre 1940s design.

At the outset Amy and James wanted to incorporate their own style. ‘Coming originally from County Down, Northern Ireland we have a very different style to Americans so we wanted to incorporate our own ideas to make it feel more like home.’

On approach to this magnificent property you are struck by the impressive veranda. ‘We replaced the wraparound porch wood with new composite decking as wood doesn’t last very long in such a hot and humid climate and the composite decking is maintenance free’, comments Amy.
