Destination Ireland: Beside the sea

With warmer weather and sunnier days arriving on our Emerald Isle, we start to dream of days spent by the sea. We have some of the most stunning beaches and seaside towns, arguably, in the world, so here are our top five spots to check out this summer.

Portrush

Portrush, situated on the north coast, is a haven for holiday goers near and far. In the summer months, Portrush is buzzing with an atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else in Northern Ireland. This year, it’s an extra special place to be with the likes of Tiger Woods gracing its dunes at The Open this July. It has two stunning beaches that are popular spots for families in the summer months. Also on offer is Barry’s Amusements where families can spend their days on two penny slot machines, thrilling rides, ghost train or the carousel. There are many amazing places to eat in Portrush, with the Ramore making some of the most delicious desserts you may ever have tasted. Even if you decide to venture out of the seaside town, there are other beautiful spots just a short distance away, with Portstewart a few miles away, and the Giants Causeway right on its doorstep. It’s a fabulous hub for exploring the wonderful North Coast, and you will be spoilt by the picturesque views along the way.
