One In A Mill

Rachel and Chris have sensitively restored, renovated, and enhanced a derelict former corn mill to create a charming family home, steeped in the industrial and agricultural heritage of rural Co. Down.

Built in 1823, this beautiful old mill had been partially restored by a developer before architects, Rachel and her husband Chris bought it as their first home together. ‘A developer owned it before us, so he restored the shell, bringing the stonework and roof back to its former glory. As architects, we originally planned on designing and self-building a contemporary home, until we came across the mill when looking at sites and fell completely in love!’ says Rachel.
