Textured Cohesion

When Aileen Mullan and the team at Ulster Interiors became involved in this new-build family home in County Down, the project was still in its infancy. Planning approval had only recently been secured, giving the design team the ideal opportunity to help shape the property from the earliest stages.

There’s something special about this home. The interior exudes a warmth and richness, one that is synonymous with the work of Ulster Interiors. But, what made this project so streamlined was the early partnership between client and designer. ‘This early involvement was invaluable,’ says Aileen Mullan, interior designer at Ulster Interiors. ‘It enabled us to influence key design decisions and ensure every aspect of the home was considered from both a practical and aesthetic perspective.’ The five-bedroom property was conceived as a forever family home, combining generous living and entertaining spaces with carefully considered layouts. While the clients arrived with a strong sense of how they wanted the home to feel, they were less focused on a particular design style. ‘Their brief was to create a timeless and elegant family home that would balance luxury with everyday practicality,’ explains Aileen. ‘They wanted each space to feel considered and cohesive, while still being warm, inviting and suitable for modern family living.’ Aileen says there was a strong emphasis on quality craftmanship, and that element of longevity that comes with it, as well as ‘bespoke elements and creating a sense of flow throughout the property’. ‘Our role was to interpret their aspirations and transform them into a home that felt effortlessly elegant, functional and uniquely theirs.’
