Deborah and Graham took a classic base, added a dash of vintage blended with quirkiness and colour to create a uniquely happy home in Belfast.

Some viewers might not even have looked inside the tired old semi when they saw its overgrown front garden, but for Deborah and Graham the neglected house, which had neither heating nor electric, was perfect. ‘We’d been living in a three bedroomed terrace not far away but we wanted more outside space as well as a project, somewhere we could make our mark. This place ticked all the boxes and on top of that it had ‘the feeling’ – even though the electric had been turned off!’ says Deborah. ‘The previous owner had been elderly so not much had been done to the house for quite a while, but that was in its favour as it meant the property still had some lovely original features, like the gorgeous ceiling lamp in the hall which we now have in the porch and the original solid wood floors which we kept in the hall and the front living room.’
