Is there anything as cheerful as a daisy? When children first learn to draw flowers, it is always a daisy that they instinctively draw. Daisies depict simplicity and innocence, epitomising their unpretentious, modest beauty.

Daisies are reminiscent of the sun with their golden centres and rays of sunlight, which is where they get their name from, ‘day’s eye’ or daisy.

There are thousands of different varieties of daisies, which belong to the Asteraceae family. The name Asteraceae comes from the type genus Aster, which in Greek means star and refers to the star-like form of the inflorescence.
