Wough Tay, located along the Sally Gap Drive, is one of the most photographed locations in Wicklow and once you visit, you will understand why. Nicknamed ‘Guinness Lake’ because of its dark waters and white shoreline eerily resembling the freshly poured stout, it is tradition to grab a pint after trekking up to see this view. Popular with film crews (Vikings, Excalibur, and Irish Wish were all filmed here), Wicklow’s Guinness Lake is off-limits to visitors, as it sits on private land owned by the Guinness Family Trust. However, there are plenty of viewpoints and trailheads surrounding the lake to take in all its beauty.
