January always feels like a clean slate. The garden is quiet, stripped back to its most basic framework, and with the distractions of summer gone, you can see it clearly again. That clarity can be both sobering and exciting. You’ll notice what works, what doesn’t, and hopefully, where potential lies waiting beneath the surface. It’s the ideal time to plan a garden makeover. The days might be short, but there’s space to think, sketch, and imagine before the rush of spring begins. Planning now means you can hit the ground running when the soil warms and the first shoots appear.
