This month Marty O’Neill enjoys 48 hours on the magical North Coast of Northern Ireland.

I’m fortunate to get to travel far and wide, but sometimes we all need a reminder of the brilliant things going on right here on our very own doorstep. Northern Ireland’s North Coast has been enjoying a kind of renaissance in recent years, with the demand for property in the area soaring as more people look to enjoy the golf courses, beaches, bars, restaurants and the multitude of local tourist attractions on offer in the popular towns of Bushmills, Portrush, Castlerock, Portstewart and the general area. Two of these tourist attractions, The Giant’s Causeway and Barry’s Amusements (now Curry’s Fun Park) were longstanding staples of my childhood. I have to say, back then I was more into the dodgems than taking in the scenic landscape of the Causeway, but today the magical draw of the coastal road to the golden beaches and jaw-dropping scenery is very much alive and well with me and conjures up nostalgic memories of our family road trips.
