July 2015 – Issue 241

We are very much ready for summer here at IHIL, with warmer weather and alfresco dining with friends and family on our minds! Our July issue is packed with everything to get you ready for summer at home with our Summer Special. We look at outdoor dining, comfortable outdoor seating, those summer rooms we can relax in and some summer dining trends to wrap things up, from tropical to Parisian style.

With our selection of wine coolers you won’t go short of a cool beverage either! We look at outdoor dining, comfortable outdoor seating, those summer rooms we can relax in and some summer dining trends to wrap things up, from tropical to Parisian style. Store your favourite wine in the right environment and get the most out of your evening tipple.

This issue we introduce Patricia McGinnis from Maven who will bring us her monthly column ‘In the Know’, where she will discuss all things interiors, from what’s on and best buys, to the blogs you should be reading and expert advice.

We take a bit of a different turn this month by visiting and celebrating some of Ireland’s most beautiful period properties that are available to let as part of a stay-cation. In the North we discover Barbican at the entrance of Glenarm Castle Estate, Helen’s Tower in Co. Down, Drumgate Lodge in Bushmills and Triumphal Arch Gate Lodge in Co. Fermanagh. Further south we visit Dublin’s Temple bar quarter to see the Georgian Townhouse, Wicklow Head Lighthouse with views of the Irish sea, Clomantagh Castle in Co. Kilkenny and over to Co. Clare’s Inchiquin House.

There’s also a profile on the £8million restoration of Mount Stewart on the Ards Peninsula. It’s definitely worth a visit over the summer to see this magnificent property, and of course, the gardens too, in all their glory.

Amanda and Peter’s kitchen in their new build home in Portstewart is sleek and contemporary with a beautiful island, breakfast bar and lots of storage. In our travel features this issue we head to the north coast to experience the magic of seaside town Portrush and further afield we celebrate the US Independence Day in Washington D.C.!

Lastly, why not cook up a meaty treat with one of the delicious lamb and beef recipes from Livestock Meat Commission NI from our cookery pages.
