Our previous kitchen was a traditional Irish kitchen from the 1980s,’ recalls Jim. ‘It was a dark oak with laminate worktops. We had been planning to extend to the rear of the house and we knew that the kitchen would be the most important element of the design.’

With this in mind, Jim then began his search for the kitchen company to make his kitchen a reality. ‘I had admired Noel Dempsey Design’s work in various magazines and online, so when I met with David the designer I knew that they could deliver exactly what we wanted. As the kitchen was part of a rear extension, our building contractor worked closely with David to deliver the required space. I had a good idea of what the finished kitchen should look like and I always wanted an island where friends could be seated while we were preparing food. This was the one feature I had to have and David took this on board to come up with the final design which I loved.’
