Finding Home in Killala

For Peter, a lifelong search for his Irish roots led him to the historic town of Killala, where he and daughter Catherine have breathed new life into a neglected cottage.

Peter always knew there was something drawing him towards Ireland. Long before he discovered where he came from, before DNA testing revealed his father’s family, and years before he would own not one but two cottages in the historic coastal town of Killala, he found himself surrounded by Irish friends and returning to the country whenever he could. ‘I’ve always had a pull to the Irish,’ he says. ‘I had loads of Irish friends, even before I started on the journey of tracing my family.’
