Meeting the Brief

Applying the principles of Feng Shui has helped to reimagine and realign this family home in Carlow.

Set against the rolling landscape of County Carlow, this countryside home is a modern build with a timeless rural soul. Built just 16 years ago, the house was designed to honour its setting, incorporating locally abundant granite in its stone façade and substantial fireplace, while maintaining the clarity and light of contemporary architecture. Structurally modern yet rich in texture and heritage, it carries both strength and softness – a balance that was imperative to owner Amy Power, a Feng Shui consultant. Commenting on the project Amy explains, ‘In 2019, we began redecorating the kitchen and living area with the principles of Feng Shui very much in mind. I wanted to see and feel how intentional energy shifts could influence the atmosphere of our home. By reworking the layout, softening the colour palette, and being mindful about balance and flow, the space took on a noticeably calmer quality. It felt lighter, more supportive, and that transformation inspired me to explore Feng Shui on a much deeper, professional level.
