This home in Kinsale forms something of an architectural chameleon on the landscape. Inside, the interior has been modestly yet carefully curated to ensure the beautiful surroundings are not overshadowed, but rather enhanced.

For Brian and Vera, the decision to move was driven by practicality and future-proofing. After their five children moved out, they were ready to downsize from their family home of 30 years. David, Interior Designer, Project Manager and Creative Director at RJ O’Brien who was behind the project, says they were looking for a very specific type of project: “a future-proof, single-story property they could transform into a space designed for effortless living in the years to come.”
He recalls his first visit to the site with Vera. “It was hidden from the road behind a screen of tall trees, a small, pink house on the waterfront, untouched for many years and used by the previous owners as a summer house.” Once inside, he saw potential. “The site offered remarkable, uninterrupted views across the River Bandon, The Dock marina, and Kinsale Harbour.”
