I have a period-style home but I like contemporary design. How can I bring the two together?

It’s perfectly possible to integrate modern design with a traditionally styled building, but it takes skill and imagination to make it work! This is where an interior designer can come in handy. I recently worked on just such a house in Dublin. It wasn’t a period home, but it had been built to look like one. The building is about thirty years old with lovely period-style features: cornicing, wall panelling and gorgeous reclaimed herringbone wooden flooring which extends through half the ground floor. The other half is floored with crema marfil, a beautiful beige-toned marble tile, with underfloor heating beneath.Read more in the March issue…
