Style With Substance

For Ciaran and Sammy, the kitchen was always going to be the heart of their new Wexford home and armed with solid plans and ideas, they called on Mooney Kitchens and Interiors to realise a sleek traditional space with modern function and usability.

With a deep appreciation for architecture and a lifelong love of food and cooking, Ciaran approached the design of this kitchen with clarity and intention. ‘I had a clear vision,’ he says. ‘This was never just a kitchen to me, it was the most important part of the home.’ To bring that vision to life, Ciaran and his wife turned to Mooney Kitchens & Interiors, working closely with designer David Mooney on a scheme that married traditional craftsmanship with crisp, modern lines. ‘The clients provided a detailed design brief from the outset,’ David explains. ‘They wanted a classic yet contemporary micro shaker style with a high-end finish. The brief included inspirational images and a specific list of appliances, which helped shape the final design.’ Ciaran describes the finished result as ‘modern but traditional.’ Shaker cabinetry anchors the look, with subtle detailing and a muted palette keeping things light in a space where natural light is limited. ‘We were very conscious of that,’ he says. ‘I love dark colours, but this space needed brightness, and the clean lines were crucial to the overall feel.’
