Living in Colour

With a passion for bright, bold interiors, Gill has turned her ex-rental into a fun-filled playful home.

Searching for some time and keen to get onto the property ladder, Gill and her husband Bryan, as well as their four children, twins Ethan and Jessie, 13, nine-year-old Lilah and Ellie who is three, were all excited when, three years ago, they spotted this three bedroom 1930’s bungalow near Adare in Co. Limerick. ‘We were keen to stay in this area, but nothing ticked the right boxes until we happened upon this bungalow, which is just down the road from my mother’s house, so the location was very convenient, particularly for a spot of babysitting,’ laughs Gill. Way over their budget, the couple took a chance and put in an offer that suited their purse, which to their surprise was accepted. ‘We all loved the house. Although it was a bit dated, it had a lovely feel to it. The previous owners had extended it and created a really light and spacious living area with the kitchen to one side. The big windows had a great view of the garden and made the whole space feel lovely and bright,’ explains Gill.
