Nigel and Diane wanted an island to be a main feature for their new build Lisburn home. What Canavan Interiors has created is an elegant and contemporary design with the island being the main focal point.

Our last kitchen was very traditional,’ explains Diane. ‘It was an oak design and was quite small therefore it didn’t have a lot of space for storing things.’

So how did the couple decide on the kitchen company? ‘We visited quite a few kitchen companies but it was my husband who had looked through a lot of kitchen magazines and went with the kitchen companies who had won awards so that’s what brought us to Canavan Interiors. When we visited their showroom we absolutely loved it. Designer Jason Canavan was such a warm person and was on the same wavelength as us with regards to our kitchen design and we just had a good feeling.’

At the first design meeting, the couple sat down with designer Jason and began discussing what style of kitchen they wanted for their new build home. After a visit to their previous kitchen and under Jason’s recommendation, they agreed that they had to increase the size of their new kitchen significantly and Jason worked alongside the architect from Warwick Stewart Architects to construct a working space that suited the couple’s lifestyle needs perfectly. ‘Jason asked for the plans of the entire house to see how the new kitchen would flow,’ adds Diane. ‘He suggested making the kitchen a lot bigger by pushing back the walls and we are so glad that we did that.’
