July 2018 – Issue 277

Summer is here at last! This issue we embrace the warmer weather by looking at how to get the most out of our outdoor spaces, so that we can cook, dine and relax al fresco in the summer months, and indeed all year around when the weather allows.

To start we look at stylish and comfortable seating solutions for outdoor spaces, from recliners to hanging seats and hammocks. We also take a look at outdoor rooms, from bespoke solutions to the more simple addition of a gazebo that will act as some shelter while you dine or recline!

Firing up the barbecue is one of the joys of summer, so with that we look at some ideas to get you cooking outside on sunny days, with a few recipes from DJ BBQ’s cookbook to have you rustling up a treat for family and friends! Our dining feature offers lots of outdoors table and chairs, from formal to the more casual bistro style, and of course we can’t forget the classic picnic!

With everything in place, it is time to bring the inside out and make your outdoor spaces that bit more cosy with the addition of cushions, throws, rugs, fire pits and more. Last but not least for our summer special, we have a selection of the latest wine coolers for those that enjoy a glass or two. Our readers’ homes this issue take us to Kim and Derek’s new build extension in Limavady, where they have created a contemporary, open-plan living room with floor to ceiling windows. In Dublin, Lynn and Salvatore show us their transformed three story period property that has been cleverly turned into a modern and stylish home. Having recently moved back to Dublin, Rob and Trina set about completely remodelling this large home in Dublin to create the ideal family home in the perfect location, resulting in a calm New England style.

Our cookbook this issue also lends itself to summer! We sample some mouth watering recipes from Korean BBQ by Bill Kim and Chandra Ram, suitable for outdoor cooking or bringing it indoors to your grill. In our travel, we are off to the Dordogne in France to see the sights, and closer to home we appreciate the stunning beaches our Emerald Isle has to offer.

We hope you enjoy our July issue, and as always, if you have a home, or know of someone who has a home, that you would like to see featured in the magazine contact editorial on 028 9147 3979 or editorial@ihil.net
