Unassuming yet Unforgettable

From the outside this terrace in Donegal is humble, but inside it is drenched in thoughtful interior choices, colours, patterns and features that remind us of its century-old existence and pay tribute to the homeowners’ grandmother, Elizabeth.

Laura and Denise, two sisters with backgrounds in the arts and a shared passion for interiors, named this gorgeous property in Ramelton, Co. Donegal Elizabeth House after their grandmother, who they describe as ‘an inspirational figure in our lives.’ This house has played many a role throughout its history. It was once a grocery shop before becoming a family home and later an antiques shop. When the sisters came across it, the bones were strong but the building needed what they describe as ‘a lot of TLC.’ The sale was agreed in September 2024 and work began almost immediately, with renovations taking place at weekends and on many a long evening. ‘It was all consuming for a while,’ they say, but with the help of family and friends the turnaround was just six months.
