Found in the heritage town of Trim, the Trim Castle is a medieval treasure in the heart of County Meath. The largest and best-preserved Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland, its name stems from the Irish Baile Átha Troim, meaning ‘Town of the Ford of the Elder Trees.’ Rising proudly beside the River Boyne, Trim Castle tells a story that stretches back over eight centuries, to when it was first built in 1172 by Hugh de Lacy, a baron granted the Kingdom of Meath by King Henry II.
