Whether you’re creating a home office or making use of a multi-purpose space, it’s important to create an environment which feels comfortable and productive if you work from home. Lighting plays a crucial part in this, so it’s wise to take the time to do a little bit of research and find a design that works for you in terms of practicality and aesthetic. Desk lights are primarily used for task lighting purposes – this is when you need to light up a specific area so that you can see what you’re doing. However, they can also serve as accent or ambient lighting to add a warm glow to a corner or highlight a design feature. And of course, they are beautifully designed lights which in themselves, add a decorative flourish to a space. In terms of practicality, start by considering the size of the area you wish to illuminate. Taller lamps will light up a larger area and a design with an adjustable arm or head will offer great flexibility, so you can direct the light in the perfect position. Cordless, rechargeable designs make for a fantastic addition if you’re struggling with overflowing plug sockets. They also help to minimise the number of cables that trail from your workspace
