A Renewed Sense of Living

When designer Karina Heaslip’s clients returned to their Kilkenny home after several years abroad, they found a house that no longer reflected how they lived and so a project to create an elegant home with a beautiful country feel began.

Originally built around two decades ago, this bungalow had served its owners well, but time and distance brought clarity. Rather than replace the home they loved, they chose to rework it completely. ‘The house was approximately 20 years old. My clients had built the house themselves and having returned following a few years overseas they felt the house was tired and needed upgrading,’ explains Karina Heaslip, Founder and Creative Director of Karina Heaslip Design. ‘It was fully renovated to the standard of a modern new build.’ A bungalow with some attic spaces used as storage and an office, Karina embarked on what was a complete renovation and upgrade, with ‘some reconfiguration and small additions to create a better use of the attic’.
