There’s something deeply satisfying about stepping outside on a cold December morning, secateurs in hand, breath hanging in the air, and snipping stems to bring inside. Bringing in cut foliage and flowers fills the house with scent and texture. It’s also a gentle rebellion against the artificial. Instead of the smell of plastic pine and imported sprays of glittered greenery, I’d rather have the warm spice of bay leaves or the clean freshness of pine and fir foliage.
