A steep increase in the price for olive oil and supply constraints on sunflower oil has seen the popularity of rapeseed oil soar in recent times – the planting of the oilseed rape crop has increased by more than 70% in Ireland in the last five years. Favoured for more than just convenience, Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil is celebrated for its versatility, smooth flavour and for boasting the highest smoke point amongst other competing oils. Its smoke point of between 230-260 degrees Celsius makes it ideal for frying, roasting and baking and because Cold Pressed Rapeseed isn’t refined or processed, it’s suitable for both hot and cold cooking applications. As well as being able to fry, roast and bake with it, it’s also perfect as a dipping oil, or for drizzling over a salad or pasta dish. Here’s a selection of the mouth watering recipes featured in this issue to whet your appetite.
- Vegan Tahini & Date Banana Bread
- Buttermilk Chicken Schnitzel with Fennel & Pistachio Slaw
