A Biophilic Manor in Co. Limerick

The landscape surrounding this unique home in Limerick acted as something of a brief for designer Emma Webb, but that is not to say the interior takes a back seat. It is quite the contrary.

Rolling fields, river views and mature woodland form the postcard-perfect backdrop of this detached, two-storey home in Adare, Co. Limerick. As a result of the external beauty, the interiors took on a calm, material richness, but modestly so, to allow nature to do the talking. Designed by Emma Webb Design for a busy family, the brief of this home was less about aesthetics and more about lifestyle, comfort and wellbeing. ‘As designers, we were asked to create spaces that feel both supportive and restorative, while still offering moments of awe,’ begins Emma. ‘Using the principles of biophilic design, we curated a palette of materials and textures based upon the local natural environment, from local woodlands and rolling hills to open fields and the nearby river.’
