A Place In The Country

The Glasshouse in Millisle is everything homeowners Alan and Irene had hoped to achieve from their new build home. When the time came for farmers Alan and Irene to leave the main farmhouse and move into a new home of their own, they knew what they didn’t want, but at the same time had no firm ideas of what they did want.

We knew we didn’t want to go down the route of a traditional three bedroom bungalow or a Georgian style two-storey farmhouse. At the same time we couldn’t have told you what we did want, other than it had to have a lot of natural light,’ comments Irene.

Irene then came across a book, ‘Contemporary Design Secrets: The Art of Building a House in the Countryside’ by Antrim-based architect Jane Burnside and the couple immediately knew Jane could give them the design they were after.
